Child Safety Standards
Same is for adults. We have zero tolerance for child sexual abuse and exploitation (CSAE) and for child sexual abuse material (CSAM), in any form, anywhere in the app.
Same Is 18+
Every account gives a date of birth when it is made, and nobody under 18 can make one. Same is rated 18+ in the App Store and on Google Play. An account we believe belongs to somebody under 18 is removed.
What Is Not Allowed
- Any image, message, answer, note, name or card that sexualises a child.
- Grooming, or any attempt to contact a child for sexual purposes.
- Sharing, asking for, or pointing to child sexual abuse material.
- Sextortion, or trafficking of any kind.
How to Report It
- In the app: on the person's profile, open the menu and choose Block and report. In a group chat, open the menu and choose Report somebody. A report reaches us the moment it is made, together with the conversation it came from.
- By email: hello@joinsame.app, with the subject "Child safety report". You do not need an account.
If a child is in immediate danger, call the police first: 112 in the Netherlands and the EU, or your local emergency number.
What Happens Next
A person reads every report within 24 hours, and a child safety report comes before anything else. When we find CSAE or CSAM, we:
- remove the content and the account;
- keep what is needed as evidence, and nothing more;
- report it to the Dutch police and to Offlimits, the Dutch hotline for online child sexual abuse, and to the relevant authorities wherever else the law requires.
The Law
Same complies with the child safety laws that apply to it, including Dutch and EU law, and cooperates with law enforcement.
